Birthday Tags by Dianna

This is my first post as part of Gina's Designs team and I am so excited!  I had two birthdays this month to make cards for and descided to make the cards actually tags.  Both Birthdays were on the same day. One was my daughters 21st Birthday and the second one was a friend who loves all things vintage and Paris.  You will probably figure out which one is which. :)

The list for each tag will be at the bottom of the pictures. Please scroll down for second Tag.

                                                                 The 21 Tag!

Full tag photo - I misted the Julie Nutting stamp skirt (pink paper) (alot) to get it to fold so that it would be "puffy".   FYI: When I stamped I should have not inked the lines on the inside of the skirt since I was going to fold it.  Used glossy accents on the lines of the bottom skirt.  I did not think that the skirt had much dimension so I dobbed the folds with Jim Holtz, Distress Ink in Tea Dye.  Then I misted the polka dot paper (just the large sides) and rolled it on a pen to get it to "puff" out.  I used two different Gina's Design Cardstock Doily Set Intricates behind the Stamp because I liked the look. The top two butterflies are Gina's Design and I used coordinating paper and glued the paper on the lazer cuts, fussycut around them and used the Tea Dye around the edges.  Everything was glued down with Beacon 3-in-1.

I colored Gina's Designs "Happy Birthday and bottom butterfly" pink with a Copic Sketch RV55 - Hollyhock.  The stamp was Julie Nutting by Prima -  Skin - Copic Sketch E02 - Fruit Pink.  Hair - Copic Sketch YR24 - Pale Sepia, Copic Sketch YR27 - Tuscan Orange and Copic Ciao Y21 - Buttercup Yellow.  I really do not use a blender but use the lighter color as a blender.  I outlined and colored first in Y21 then used YR27 to outline the inside lines. YR24 was used then to go over the darker color.  I picked several sections of hair and used YR24. Then I went over everything again in Y21.

The Happy Birthday and the bottom butterfly after colored were glittered with Stickles (Icicle).  I either leave the back of the tag unfinished or just cover it with a coordinating paper.  When I use these as gifts I write a message on the back of the tag.  When I use them in books I have found that people pull the tags out to look at them and the back will get torn up if there is
alot of embellishments on it.

The Paris Tag!

Full Tag Photo - I knew I was doing something with the Effle Tower, a Julie Nutting's Stamp and a dress pattern but that was it.

I knew that I wanted something more old fashioned that what came with the Julie Nutting - Halie metal dies and cling stamp. So I went through everything that Gina from Gina's Designs supplied and found a good fit (I had to trim down a little since it is not designed for this purpose) in the Dress Forms and Corsets Shapes Set. I used Jim Holtz, Distress Ink, Peeled Paint (olive color) on the chipboard (daub lightly so that a lot of the brown still comes through). Note: when I daub ink I use an old Ranger wooden square blender with foam squares). Then I sewed the ties with white thread (the holes are designed for a regular needle so it was very easy). Then I used the Peeled Paint on the thread too.  The Gina's Designs Eiffel Tower was daubbed with Jim Holtz, Distress Ink in Black Soot and Stormy Sky (lightly dob you want the color from the chipboard to come through).  The flower is Jim Holtz, Alterations, Sizzix, Tattered Flower Garland . Gina taught me how to make the petals curl, you use a scoring stylus with two small ends and a foam square (think dollar store). You place the unassembled flower pieces on the foam and start drawing veins and pressing down in the center with either the small or larger ends of the styles.  This really works!! Then I sprayed both the flower (after assembly) and the Eiffle Tower with Luminarte, Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist (this takes a while to dry).  I used a crown design from KittysScrapPost's Shop, its on Gina's Designs bottle cap set.  The frame for Paris is from Gina's Designs (Zots 3D) and is daubed in Peeled Paint, I could not find what I was looking for so I wrote it.

Hair - I started with Copic - Y21 - Buttercup Yellow everywhere, then outlined in E09 - Burnt Sienna, made curls with E15 - Dark Suntan, then colored curls with YR27 - Tuscan Orange, blended everything with Y21 and YR27.

Skin - Copic E00-Skin White over white card stock paper, did not like how that turned out so I stamped a "word" stamp (looks like french cannot be sure) on top of the copic colored paper and liked how that turned out.  Will keep this in mind if I can not find paper with wording or a book I do not like (lets face it, it is really really super hard to cut into a book.  I almost find myself sick everytime I do it). This maybe a better choice for me.

The Happy Birthday is from Gina's Designs and is daubbed with Peeled Paint.  The skirt was cut from an old clothing pattern and the Julie Nutting Aurora stamp used in the 21 tag. I did not ink the inside of the skirt (I learned). The skirt was daubbed with Peeled Paint, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo all Jim Holtz.  The Gina's Design Doily was daubed with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo. Everything with glued down with Beacon's 3-IN-1 glue.

Thank you for looking!
